Job Summary/Basic Function

Manages the college’s treasury function, including reconciliations with College Advancement, endowment and debt accounting, and cash management and forecasting.

Essential Duties:
  • Maintain the endowment subsidiary ledgers and record all related accounting entries to reconcile to the general ledger, College Advancement and the college’s outsourced investment office. Performance of this function requires regular communication with College Advancement and the college’s outsourced investment office to ensure all activity is properly recorded in a timely manner. Endowment accounting also includes accounting, reporting and administration of non-pooled assets such as gift annuities, charitable trusts and other deferred giving arrangements. Finally, this function relies on proactive analysis for issues, trends and other information and reporting needs by management and other departments on campus.
  • Oversee cash management and forecasting for the college by: working with third parties and management to invest operating reserves and excess operating cash; maintaining weekly cash balances and providing cash projections on a regular basis; working with financial institutions to establish and maintain working lines of credit; processing and accounting for donations of securities to the college; and managing the transfer of funds between endowment and operating cash and initiating and approving other electronic payments.
  • Reconciling all activity with College Advancement, including daily feed reports to ensure proper accounting for additions to endowed and non-endowed funds; cash to accrual-basis reconciliations between College Advancement and Financial Operations; and outstanding pledge reports. This function includes frequent communication with College Advancement and the ability to investigate and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Perform accounting and administrative functions relating to the college’s debt portfolio, including: recording all accounting entries; processing and recording debt service payments and draws on project funds; working with third parties to perform arbitrage calculations and remit payments as necessary; and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, including continuing disclosure requirements and post-issuance bond compliance requirements highlighted in Form 990 (allocation of proceeds, private business use, arbitrage, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in an Accounting related field with 3-5 years of related experience.

Familiarity with computer systems (Banner is preferred) and strong computer skills are required, along with the ability to demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills.
