Job Summary/Basic Function

The Associate Director of the Writing Program is a full-time administrator who teaches one course per semester. The Associate Director collaborates with the Director to manage and develop the Multilingual Writing Center and Writing Associates Program, and assists with assessment of the Writing Program. In addition, the Associate Director collaborates with the Director to manage the 70+ tutors who comprise the Multilingual Writing Center tutoring staff and to serve as a resource for faculty.

Essential Duties Include:
  • Manage the Writing Associates Program: Recruit and select Writing Associates, train faculty to work with WAs, facilitate ongoing WA staff training, troubleshoot issues with faculty and WA staff, assess the WA Program for the yearly Writing Program assessment report.
  • Assist with the assessment of the Writing Program: Assess the WA Program and the ESL Program, write a yearly report on both of those programs, and collaborate with the Director on assessing and reporting on other aspects of the Writing Program.
  • Support the Multilingual Writing Center staff: Recruit, interview, and hire new English writing tutors. Assist and support the director with managing the Multilingual Writing Center staff.
  • Teach two writing courses for English language learners – one in the fall and one in the spring. Coordinate the placement of international students in ESL course(s). Provide resources and support for students and faculty as needed.
Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Composition and Rhetoric or a related field with 1-3 years of related work experience.
