Job Summary/Basic Function

Position works collaboratively with the team to provide affiliation opportunities for the Dickinson community while working to meet dollar and participation goals of Dickinson’s Annual Fund. The primary responsibility of the position is to manage identification, recruitment, training, support and fundraising aspects of the college’s alumni volunteer corps. Specifically, works with volunteers to increase engagement with the college, participation in and dollars raised in support of the Annual Fund. Additional primary responsibilities include management of select class reunions.

Essential Duties
  • Build and maintain a Dickinson Fund volunteer pool for alumni in classes that graduated 11-30 years ago. Identify and recruit new volunteers annually. Using research data, contact reports and qualification at events, bring on new volunteers to account for attrition of volunteer corps.
  • Provide clear descriptions of work and time associated with volunteer positions and set expectations accordingly. Create and offer in-person, print and online training tools to prepare volunteers to accurately and effectively advocate for Dickinson and conduct peer-to-peer solicitations. Guide volunteers through on-boarding stages. Provide periodic training opportunities at events like Homecoming, Alumni Weekend, and Alumni Council meetings.
  • Motivate and support volunteers. Implement creative strategies to increase retention of volunteer corps. Foster active and engaged volunteer community through networking events and seasonal communications.
  • Work with portfolio managers to coordinate solicitation and volunteer recruitment strategies.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of effectiveness of volunteer training tools and on-boarding stages. Identify and prioritize areas of improvement for technology tools and work with campus partners to implement fixes and enhancements. Work with design and communications colleagues to create effective promotional materials to support recruitment efforts.
  • Management of select class reunions. Recruit reunion committee members, plan and implement three annual reunion giving campaigns. Organize and manage reunion committee meetings or conference calls. Oversee sub-committees and monitor their activities to ensure that tasks are completed on time. Advise the reunion staff of decisions and the progress of sub-committees. Oversee committees’ print and online marketing and solicitation campaigns. Coordinate with communications and Engagement staff to plan and send class reunion mailings. Assist with event management of reunion weekend.
Preferred Qualifications Associate Director

Bachelor’s degree (Preferably a Liberal Arts Degree) with 3- 5 yrs of relevant experience.

Assistant Director

Bachelor’s degree (Preferably a Liberal Arts Degree) with less that 3 yrs of relevant experience.
