Job Summary/Basic Function

This is a hands on food production position. The Cook must have the ability to work all stations in the kitchen. The Cook is directly responsible for all production as assigned. Activities include quality food preparation, recipe validation, production of banquets on and off premise, sanitation and safety.

Essential Functions:

  • Must be able to work any station or shift in the kitchen
  • Properly perform all methods of cooking, independently, when assigned.
  • Produce and present all foods as assigned in tasty eye appealing manner.
  • Have a working knowledge of, and be able to safely operate all kitchen equipment.
  • Cooperate with and support all other college employees.
  • Be able to accurately convert recipe amounts as needed, follow standardized recipes as provided.
  • Maintain neat, clean professional appearance and manner. Follow all Serv-Safe standards and follow all HACCP procedures.
  • Accomplish other duties as assigned by management.

Other Functions:

  • Fill out all production records for shift worked.
  • Correct any observed actions of fellow employees that do not follow college food handling policies or procedures
  • Direct red shirt and college labor as needed.
  • Report any items in need of repair to supervisor
Preferred Qualifications

One year volume cooking experience in an institutional environment is preferred along with Serv-Safe certification.

Physical Demands

This position requires the employee to stand for prolong periods of time. Employee must have the ability to lift 50 pounds as needed.
Ability to use hands and fingers to manipulate equipment, knives and food products
Must be able to see-including color distinction, smell, and taste.
