Job Summary/Basic Function

Working with alumni, parents, and friends to facilitate their engagement with the college and to find a match between their philanthropic interests and Dickinson’s fund raising priorities, the position expectations include meeting with these individuals in person. The position is focused on developing relationships, learning about potential donor passions and interests, and planning steps that will allow them to fulfill their philanthropic goals with Dickinson. Also, this position works with prior major and planned giving donors to Dickinson to continue to steward them, deepen the relationship, and increase their support over time. In addition to major gift work, regional engagement and supervision, this senior level gift officer position will facilitate special efforts as approved around viable affinity areas of interest to donors.
Essential Duties

  • Solicit gifts of $100,000 or more from alumni, parents and friends.
  • Manage relationships with donors, including identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding prospects.
  • Oversee the engagement of alumni, parents and friends of the college in the greater Philadelphia region and to a lesser extent, other portions of Western Pennsylvania as needed.
  • Manage a portfolio of 150-200 prospects, performing all administrative work essential to keeping information current in the database (prioritizing prospects, writing strategies, completing reports, etc.)
  • Develop and execute cultivation strategies leading toward gifts.
  • Manage one employee, providing oversight, advice, and feedback.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with 5-8 years’ related experience. A valid drivers license is required.

*Must be in possession of a valid operator’s license for not less than three (3) years and the license must be in good standing without interruption during that time period.
