Job Summary/Basic Function

The Associate Curator of Education works with the Curator of Education to develop and implement interpretive programming for The Trout Gallery—the art museum of Dickinson College. Position reports to the curator of education.

Essential Duties
  • Develop and deliver education programs to K-12 school group visitors and audiences enrolled in summer programs.
  • Manage reservations, materials, and work spaces used for extramural group programs.
  • Develop teacher-training programs for Dickinson students working in Education at The Gallery; mentor and provide evaluation and feedback regarding art education.
  • Form strategic alliances with teachers and administration at area K-12 schools and organizations and institutions in the Carlisle community.
  • Develop and manage an overall extramural education calendar that allows for community engagement at all developmental levels (pre-k through adults).
  • Manage the museum’s participation in selected local festivals and events. Implement a strategic plan for community outreach initiatives that fulfills the museum’s mission.
  • Design and create promotional materials for Education programs and events.
Other Duties
  • Support Trout Ambassador and Dickinson campus initiatives related to art-making and graphic design.
  • Maintain and organize art supplies, equipment, and space in the museum’s Mumper Stuart Education Center.
  • Attend professional conferences and keep abreast of trends in the field of art education.
  • Attending museum openings and other events to maintain campus and community relationships.
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art, Education, Art Education, or Museum Studies (education focus), with 1-3 years’ related experience.
